Hexagonal grids are the worst and they should feel bad.
August 2011
I have been reading about applying various second order accurate schemes to different input fields and determining the Laplacian for several different types of grids for what feels like hours.
And still no one is able to tell me if there has to be a constant input field for a Laplacian equal to zero.
The C.J. turkey subplot is my absolute favorite subplot in the entirety of all television.
I would watch Sam’s action-adventure series about crime-solving Pilgrims.
Better question: do we really need Fox News?
Socialism.
I had a long and complicated rebuttal and then I read the comments and they were actually decent.
However: AccuWeather is the worst company out there and treats their forecasters like shit but they’re one of a few places that reliably hire. Too bad you can’t get a new job forecasting after you quit since they own pretty much all of your forecasting.
Plus I like being able to get things funded and, you know, have the historical data I need for my thesis. I love you, NWS. PLEASE KEEP GIVING ME DATA.
wtf, how are you ~more comfortable~ living in a house twenty years older? How is it any different than a house made in the past 50 years?
Ugh, why is there a House Hunters International marathon on?
And now people are making fun of the discussions on Hurricane Irene.
Sometimes describing the working spaces of atmospheric scientists really emphasizes the more jerky natures of the job/people.
They were terrible forecast discussions though.
A good half of the people who work in my building were all just crowded around one of our water fountains. We now have a resident grasshopper who lives in the potted tree that hangs over the fountain. The grasshopper was then defiling the water fountain with (more-than-should-come-from-a-grasshopper’s worth of ) poo.
Solution after several hours - move the potted plant to the left about six inches so it’s mostly away from the water fountain, but still dangling over it slightly.
I have opened Matlab and the two files I need to edit.
It’s only taken me.. 3 hours.
Grad students who leave their office doors closed at all times make me irrationally angry.
Whoever decided to derive Taylor series expansions for more than one dimension had no life.
And this is from someone who lives her life desperately grateful for the Kronecker delta.
WHAT THE FUCK MACI, YOU HAVE A BABY.
My boyfriend is watching The Blind Side.
Also, Michelle Rodriguez is currently teaching me what to do and what will happen in an alien invasion.
Today during lunch, we were watching a program on underwater archaeology and one of the ‘big finds’ was uncovering the ship of a teetotaler pirate. I still don’t really understand the pirate fetish/adoration that goes on today. Or the pirate princess which makes even less sense.
Seriously - scurvy, lack of accurate longitudinal devices, lack of ability to spend the money, horrible living conditions in general, and the danger involved in living on the ocean do not sound fun/admirable/et al.
And I like reading about the Age of Sail.
