THE TWELFTH DISNEY PRINCESS
We know that Merida has officially joined the gang of Disney Princesses as the eleventh princess. However, who knew the twelfth was going to come so soon?
Princess Anna, from the upcoming Disney film, Frozen, is a princess voiced by actress Kristen Bell. The film, based on Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, will be coming to theaters next year, and princess Anna is said to be joining the rest of royal ladies in the Disney Princess Franchise, just like Pixar’s Merida just did.

I think Princess Gerda sounds a lot better >:(

Thank you! I was really hoping they would keep it Gerda and Kay. I want to see the plot. This is seriously one of those interesting cases of a fairy tale where a young woman goes to rescue her boyfriend. Also, they’re going to have lots of opportunities to slash characters - the little robber girl had better have a good role in it.
UPDATE
They’re pulling a Little Mermaid and only ‘drawing inspiration’ from the Andersen story. I’m gonna hold off on the eye-roll until learn more about the film. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be good.

yeah.. I’m seriously iffy on this. I wanted Gerda and Kai.. I mean…. from the sound of it, it is nothing at all like the original story? “In order to stop the spell which has trapped the kingdom in eternal winter, Anna teams up with Kristoff, a mountain man, and goes on a journey to find the Snow Queen, all while encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic.”
I’m going to keep my expectations low and hopefully my fragile fairy tale heart won’t get broken yet again :( BUT the article pretty much sums up all my worries “it remains to be seen whether or not Frozen will give us the strong female lead and complex female villain young girls deserve. Hopefully Frozen will not fall into the obvious trap of letting the bravery of the mountain man overshadow Anna, allowing her to take center stage and save the day in her own right.”

UGH WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS. This plot doesn’t even resemble the original fairytale! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME DISNEY WHYYYYYY The Snow Queen is one of my favorites. ;________;
